Climate, soil and grape variety. This is, for us, the definition of “wine”. Our winery has 100 hectares of its own vineyards, where we practice viticulture based on this principle.
We take great care of the vines, allowing the climate and the soil to imprint their character, which we will later appreciate in the final result. The strong temperature contrasts that exist between day and night give rise to a good sugar/acidity balance.
The characteristics of the soil make their contribution, favouring good aeration and drainage in rainy seasons, while the underground clays retain moisture reserves in years of scarcity. In this magical alliance, the sun is in charge of governing everything, taking care of the rest, until the time of the harvest.

The Verdejo grape variety has been found in the area for centuries. Some claim that it could date back to the 11th century, coinciding with the reign of Alfonso VI.
At that time, there were human settlements in the Duero river basin. Cantabrians, Basques and Mozarabs. It was the latter who brought the Verdejo variety, coming from North Africa or from previous settlements in southern Spain.
“Producing very aromatic wines, with fruity touches, full-bodied, glyceric and smooth, with good acidity and a very characteristic bitterness.”
This is one of the most well-known strains in the world. It was introduced to the DORueda in the 1970s, bringing a certain modern and international air to the region.
It comes from the French Loire region, where it is a fundamental component in the production of Bordeaux white wines..
Its adaptation to our area has been perfect. The differences in soil and climate, more hours of sunshine than in the Loire and Bordeaux regions, partly allow us to achieve unique results.
“This grape is considered, along with Chardonnay, the finest variety among white strains.”
Its cultivation began in the area in the 1950s. At that time, the wines were aged in wooden vats or by exposure to sunlight, seeking their oxidation and ageing.
Viura complements Verdejo very well. It takes away the seriousness, providing greater lightness and a more cheerful touch. Traditionally, “Rueda” type wines contain this variety.
“Thin skin and golden color, its aromas are of medium intensity, of white fruits. Its wines are fresh, delicate and very easy to drink.”
Our wines are produced and bottled at source from grapes grown in our own vineyards. They are known both in Spain and abroad for their elegance, richness of fruit and balanced acidity.
